All Wool Socks From Ireland
These socks are a new product from one of our long-term English suppliers. They're made in Ireland.
When we got samples about a year and a half ago they seemed on the loose, coarse, and scratchy side of things, so imagine our shock when, after months of wearing, they became team favorites, super comfortable, and also the best looking socks we've ever seen or sold. They have kind of a loose, slubby fit that allows you to mount them with one hand and remove them easily. If you wear them to bed and you wake up with hot feet in the middle of the night, it's nice that you can take them off with a single toe.
Four great color combos, with subtle speckled mottling mixed in, and starkly contrasting heels and toes. Two sizes. The maker says wash cold. Over time and at least twenty warm washes but no intentional machine drying, mine have shrunk some, tightened up a bit, but still retain 75 percent of their slubby charm.
They’re not the Darn Tough socks with a lifetime guarantee. For socks, that’s nuts. And they’re not the eight-packs you buy at Costco. But they are beautiful and good. We take socks seriously, so you can buy with reckless abandon.
